Emily Lena Jones is an archaeologist, a university professor, and an author. In her life as an archaeologist, she studies the connections between people, animals, and the environment in the past; as a writer, she’s tried her hand at genres ranging from poetry to creative nonfiction. Her fiction debut, Nahia, was a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard selection and a 2025 New Mexico Book Awards finalist.
When Emily’s not working or writing, you’ll likely find her in the kitchen baking bread, in the garden with her bees, or out hiking somewhere in central New Mexico, camera in hand.
